So in my last post I touched on the fact that my room, more specifically my closet, was a complete disaster.
There were clothes everywhere and I couldn’t keep track of anything.
For a lot of people, having a clear space leads to a clear mind.
This is true for me as well.
So anyways I spent a day decluttering my closet yet again, and I reorganized my entire wardrobe.
There are already plenty of resources outside of this post talking about how to declutter and organize your wardrobe, which is very helpful but it’s only the first step.
I wanted to turn my closet into more than just a clean and organized place to store my clothes- I wanted to turn it into an oasis of clothing which I am excited to look through everyday.
Some of the tips in this post are a bit extra, but that’s what I love about them.
I ended up decorating and organizing my closet in a way that inspires me and makes me happy to just look at it.
I hope some of these tips inspire you to transform your wardrobe!
~photo wall, fairy lights, and anything else~
Originally, I was going to create a photo wall above my bed since the wall was kind of plain.
However, I ended up putting it in my closet, and I think it turned out really well!
Adding a photo wall in your closet can turn your wardrobe into a more creative space instead of just having plain walls.
If you don’t have any walls to put photos on, you can just put them on the back of your shelves, and everytime the clothes are moved the photos will be revealed.
The pictures can be anything you desire, but I think that choosing photos of outfits that inspire you or can be recreated within your closet would be a fun way to incorporate the photo wall into what your closet is actually used for, coming up with outfits.
I downloaded all of my photos from pinterest.
I also added fairy lights to add more character to my closet.
I just hung them up randomly and made sure they were in a place so that they were easy to turn off and on.
I’ve also seen people put plants in their closets, which I also think is a great idea.
~outfit calendar~
Not only will this make your closet look more interesting, but having an outfit calendar with outfit ideas will make it so much easier to get ready quickly but still be able to put together something that you really like.
All I did was create a google doc and made a table with two sides, one for outfit bases, and one for the actual outfits.
Here’s mine as an example.
~Outfit Bases~ Fav jeans & Sweatshirt/ Hoodie Fav jeans & Crop Top Fav Jeans & Sweater Sweatpants & Crop Top Sweatpants & Long Sleeved Shirt Leggings & Crop Top Leggings & Sweatshirt/ Hoodie | ~Outfits~ Outfit #1: – Black Leggings – Pink Crop Top – White Sneakers Additionally: – Denim Jacket – Baseball Hat – Gold Jewelry Outfit #2: Blue Sweatpants Grey Long Sleeved Shirt White Sneakers Additionally: – Matching Scrunchy (on wrist or in hair) – Silver Jewelry Outfit #3: – Vintage Light/ Medium Wash jeans – New York Sweatshirt – Black Vans Additionally: – Gold Jewelry – Messy Bun with Matching Scrunchy |
I ended up sticking this to the back of my wall.
You can be really creative with this and customize it to fit your liking.
You could make one for each season or just one for year round.
You could also sort outfits by theme, some being for special occasions while others are for more casual activities.
~accessories as decor~
Simply displaying your accessories in your closet is great for decorating as well as making them more accessible to you.
All I did was put my jewelry in a little plate but I think that pinning hoop earrings, necklaces, and bracelets to the wall would be a good idea in displaying them.
It’s so simple, yet can make your closet look prettier and more organized.
