La Prima Estate by Erland Øye
I actually didn’t even realize this song was in Italian until my friend told me it was. Erland Øye is a Norwegian Artist who wrote this song and describes someone who is graduating and starting a new chapter in their life. It is a song of celebration and new beginnings. The word “celebration” is a good indicator to how this song sounds. It is very upbeat, fast paced, and happy sounding. Every time I listen to it I can’t help myself from dancing to the instrumental part of the chorus. Here is La Prima Estate and the lyrics.
Je na’i rien à faire by Alice et Moi
Finally, the first French song on what is supposed to be a French playlist. This song is about a woman(Alice) who is getting all dressed up to sit at a bar without meeting anyone. The song title is literally(in English) “I have nothing to do.” This song is also very upbeat. It has a repetitive and catchy tune and I enjoy working out to it. Hardcore by Odezenne
I discovered this song through another song of the artist that I really liked called Souffle le vent. Hardcore is a song about a relationship that isn’t meant to be and compares the lost love to nature. This song is very vibey and has an almost waltz sound to it. This song is nice to drive to and honestly just sounds really pretty haha. Here is Hardcore and the lyrics.
Candide Crush by Therapie TAXI
This was one of the first French songs I was drawn to so I obviously had to add it to this list. This is a joyful sounding pop song about a woman who has found someone she thinks might be a good potential romantic partner, despite meeting a lot of bad men in the past. She feels “hundreds of arrows” in her heart for this person and even compares them to an angel. I know several other people who really like this song and it is more mainstream than some of the others(I think) so it is worth a listen. Here is Candide Crush and the lyrics.
Femme by Le Couleur
“Femme” means women in French and the song tells a story of how the narrator struggled to get over someone she used to love, but by the end of the song, she no longer dreams about them. This song makes me feel really empowered(I couldn’t tell you why lol) and is another upbeat song. It is one of the songs that I had to listen to a few times to start liking, but now it is one of my favorite songs. Here is the song, Femme, and the lyrics that go with it.
